BSS came second in the regional Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Awards held at The Angel Hotel in Cardiff.

The judges hailed the portfolios of work put forward by employees Rhian Daniel (27) and Steve Jones (33) as exceptional examples of work-based training projects.

The portfolios, which were individually assigned to reflect the two candidates' roles within the company, were recognised for developing the employees' personal and business development while passing on vital skills to the host company.

The two BSS employees received tuition and guidance from allocated tutors at Gorseinon College throughout their projects, and regularly presented their progress to a panel of business leaders and tutorial staff.

Rhian, who was tasked with implementing a marketing strategy to service BSS clients within the energy sector, said: "The KTP scheme proved a tremendously worthwhile project which focused the company's marketing strategies enormously.

"The programmes strong links with Gorseinon College meant that there was a continuous flow between the skills that I could learn in the classroom and how I could implement them in the business."

Following their success with the KTP project, BSS has recruited a further member of staff who will benefit from the work-based training and development that the partnership offers.

Neil Page, (27) has been appointed as a designer in the BSS web design and management division Picseli, and will soon begin his two-year project to streamline internal processes and expand Picseli's product offering, with a focus on environmental awareness and compliance.

Speaking of BSS's success at the KTP Awards, Managing Director Teifion Davies said: "The KTP Awards were great recognition of the hard work and enthusiasm put in by Rhian and Steve and all members of the KTP programme at BSS.
